Intermedier paraffin wax - KN code: 27129019

General Features

The Paraffin usually appears white, odorless, tasteless, waxy solid to the touch. Its typical melting point is between 47 and 64 degrees is (116.6 ° F - 147.2 ° F). Water insoluble, but in organic solvents (ether, benzene, and some ester) can be easily soluble. Pure paraffin excellent electrical insulator. Paraffin is a non-toxic material due to the chemical nature of it. In contrast to the well-known paraffin wax, microcrystalline waxes are usually darker viscous, denser and more flexible. They have higher melting points because of the higher molecular weight.

  • Candle making
  • Preparation of molds
  • Cream base of pharmaceutical factories
  • Waxed coated paper and tissue
  • Match-making
  • Rubber industry
  • Food grade (clean) paraffin
  • Sweets glossy surface (although edible, but it is not absorbed in the body
  • up to drain from the intestine without problems)
  • Used as a coating on certain cheeses
  • Jam jars to insulate
  • Chewing gum manufacturing
  • Agriculture
  • Cosmetics industry
  • A number of sports to make slippery surfaces (surfboards, skis, snowboards, skateboards
  • Making the projectile firearms slippery, usually mixed with other substances (eg beeswax)

Emergency overview:

  • Hazard
  • Prone to self-ignition at relatively low temperature if it flows out on a large surface area
  • Exposure to light the solid paraffin prones to oxidation and aging. Therefore it must be stored enclosed light
  • Liquid paraffin at a hot state prone to oxidation and aging. Therefore, in the liquid state above 80 ° C for extended periods not recommended to store without an inert gas cushion
  • Usually paraffin is used at a fluidly hot stage, therefore must act with the due diligence in order to avoid burn injuries
